And I see there hs been new additions to that KMZ-webbsite after I last visited it. The Zenit DF-2 is also a Chinese Seagull.
I can't understand Russian, so I don't know what it says about Lomo and BeLomo "Zenits", but it is hard for me to think them as fakes, made under USSR ruling? Also the rebagded Helios-lenses that were sold in UK by TOE are "legalized fakes" as USSR had a major share of TOE.

They're not fakes, it says non-KMZ Zenits.

OK, so that page is now more wider than only Zenit-fakes, including even non-illegal ones named similarly to KMZ-production. Whew, hopefully that is more understandable than Russian to me... Very interesting topic, maybe I should include one more "Zenit"?
My guess is Hanimex, and if we talk about Lieca and Feica why not even vice versa?

Some time ago I was fighting for camera like this on eBay. I was convinced that it is Russian. It went for something like $100 or more. Was it you, Juhani, who bought it? |

So it was Brazil where these SLR Seagulls were named Zenit? I have always wondered what was the market area as they seem to pop up anywhere, but not often. One faint guess was UK but then they would not be this rare. Then I was thinking of Australia as 2nd guess, but even then someone would know more?

Okynek,
I remember that auction very clearly. After the price climbed over $100 I was laughing a lot. The same was with me just few years ago. I was absolutely sure, that this Zenit compact is one more creation of LOMO experiments, so wanted to have one. Just half a year later I was lucky to buy one for $11 plus my first "neautral" feedback from eBay seller, who was very unhonest man indeed ...
Regards, Aidas |

So it was Brazil where these SLR Seagulls were named Zenit? ----------------------------------------------
Some of these cameras has its bottom engaved: "Produzido no Brasil por BMA Industria Fotografica" (Made in Brazil by BMA Photo industry) This is a lie Really they changed the plastic bottom of the camera by another one made from black Poliestirene (low quality plastic) instead of (the thin and also breakable) Polietilene (although better) of the top. A real contraband intended not to pay the due taxes. |
