Unusual modification of a space movie camera.
Original turret is replaced with unknown lens mount.
Meteor 5-3 was coming in bundle for that mount.
I managed to turn the camera on.
Respond for more details and photos.

Hello and welcome to the forum Maxim!

You will have noticed by now that it is a quieter place than many other forums, as the number of posts and new threads made in a week is probably less than in many others.

But they are decent, knowledgable and curious about russian photo equipment, which is why I'm surprised no-one has replied before now.

Anyway, have you got any idea when the camera was made? I wonder if it ever actually went up into space, and if so, on what mission?

Well, I visited KMZ factory in Krasnagorsk and got some info about this one.
According to camera's serial number (68000001) it was produced in 1968 and it was the first K1 ever made.
That's all i managed to find yet. It's very hard to find any info since all the constructors are dead and all documents lost.

I don't think it went to space, since this K1 camera should be a some sort of prototype.

Fantastic camera Maxim! Has it been confirmed that it wasn't flown? Is there any kind of provenance/documentation with it in the set? Have you tried posting about on space forums? Very cool!

Best regards,
Vlad

No confirmation.

People from KMZ don't even know if there is any documentation for the camera.
Anything attached to space was kept in secret in USSR.

Well, i don't know any of space forums. But if you know one, i would try posting a thread there.

It's the first example of that version? What a pirivilage it is to own it. It's a shame the paperwork is lost, we'll never know why they did ths version or any other version than original.

What size film does it take?

Yes, that's the first one if you trust KMZ worker.
I actually bought it from a woman for like 10$. I didn't even know that was some precious camera, just wanted that Meteor lens.
It takes same film as any camera from krasnogorsk series - 16mm.

$10!

Do you think you'll ever use it? What are you going to put the lens on, or are you keeping them together?

Battery connected to the camera blocks reels so it's hard to film anything.
I want to sell it but it's really hard since i have no documents.

The lens on the camera is the one i bought it with. And it's pretty much useless on any other camera because it has unique bayonet. It can only be put on exactly this camera.
