In 2001 KMZ started production of the Zenit km. It is an automatic SLR with DX code recognition and motorised film transport. The standard lens supplied with the camera is the MC Zenitar-K2 f 1:2.0 50 mm. The shutter is electronically controlled and is of the vertical travel, metal-bladed type. Shutter speeds are 1 sec. to 1/2000 plus B. When used in automatic mode, the shutter speed range is extended to 16 secs. Flash synchronisation, using a hot-shoe is at 1/125. The film speed range is from 50 to 3200 ISO, but this can only be set by DX coding. There is a self-timer with an LED indicator on the front of the camera. An LED display alongside the shutter speed selector displays the frame counter, state of the battery, film winding or error. The camera uses four AA type batteries.
