The Kiev 88CM is the latest model of the Kiev 88 range. The body shell has been extensively redesigned, although the original film magazines and TTL prisms still fit. The lens mount is changed to that of the Kiev 60. The shutter speeds remain the same( 1/2 - 1/1000 + B), but the shutter itself is now cloth rather than metal. The standard lens is the Arsat C which has a focal length of 80 mm and a maximum aperture of f/2.8. The shutter release button is now angled and the film wind knob is now fitted with a fold-out crank. The base of the 88CM has a fast fixing shoe for a new hand grip. The fresnel screen has markings to aid cropping when using a 4.5 x 6 cm film magazine. The film magazines were also redesigned and are now easier to load. The metered prism has a selectable spot mode. The last photograph shows an Arax version of the Kiev 88CM with the addition of mirror lock-up and black finish. The control for this can be seen just above the angled shutter release. David Tomlinson.
