Posted - Jan 01 2022 : 09:35:42 AM Hello,
I'm currently servicing a pre war Fed Nkvd s/n 91419.
Here's what we can read on the rear of the pressure plate :
20/02/41 SW/18/1dl
To me it's probably the date of manufacture. This sounds ok to you ?

If the engraved inscription could be "SW/18/IDL", the "IDL" could mean "Instandsetzungs-Dienst (der) Luftwaffe" or "Repair Service of the Luftwaffe", but the date is earlier than the German invasion of the USSR, unless this camera was acquired by a German unit during the German/Soviet invasion and occupation of Poland...
Only hypothesis, I need to say.
All the best,

Posted - Jan 03 2022 : 09:05:41 AM Hi Jed, I agree with above, the scratched writing inside must be from camera adjustments at some point in 1941. The last photo the lens is much later than the body. Your body is October 1935 and the lens is from sometime in February-March 1939.
Best regards, Vlaq

Posted - Jan 02 2022 : 03:43:42 AM As for my own cameras, when the internal numbers can be read: - s/n 83515 : 29 XII - s/n 84928 : 27 I (Fed S) - s/n 90345 : 10 III - s/n 93609 : 14 V (Fed S) All that is coherent and matches your numbers, Jean. BTW, it seems that the S were checked with the "ordinary" Feds, without any delay, so without more tests.

Posted - Jan 01 2022 : 2:30:49 PM I have FED-NKVD №83837, hand-written date inside - 18/II (18 feb) |
Jacques M. |
Posted - Jan 01 2022 : 10:43:31 AM That should be the correct date for the test. By our wiki, the s/n 83613 was delivered the 18/01/1939 (attestat). That gives a good base of comparison, knowing that 34000 NKVD were made in 1939 (Fricke/Princelle). Sure, I was too late in my estimation.
That does not explain the date engraved on your press film... |

Posted - Jan 01 2022 : 10:09:36 AM Hi Jean!
1941 is too late for such a number. I think your camera should be of 1939, probably the september/november period. You will have a better date with the internal engraving, side of the rewind button, which gives the test date for the shutter.
You probably have a date of repair. Perhaps made outside the USSR: there is no W in cyrillic... (?)
And good news: you have a correct camera with matching numbers for the body and the lens!
Amitiés. Jacques.
