Hi guys, I've been a member here for a few years but life gets in the way sometimes & well, you know. I have a Fed 5 & a Zorki 2c. The Fed is new in the box & the Zorki is well used even though I haven't shot it in a while. I loaded the Zorki with some Arista Premium 400 & hope to finish the roll tomorrow. Just loaded a roll of Ferrania 200 color in the Fed 5 & want to get some shots of the hustle & bustle of Christmas. I mostly shoot a Bessa R & have several FSU lenses I use. J-3, J-8,J-12, I-61ld, I-26m (came with a deceased Fed 2)& a I-50 rigid. (non-collapsible type)I was just gifted a Helios 44m screwmount for my Pentax Spotmatic. Just wanted to say hi & check back in. Will post some photo's once I develop my film. Cheers!
Never heard of Arista premium film before. I presume it's a budget brand? I recently bought a 3x box of short-dated 'Lomography lady gray 400' film. It's 'sort of' budget, but I've read that it's actually kodak tmax 400. I've got a filter-factor table which shows that when used with Tmax, the filter factors have to be slightly altered, so I'm going to have to find out Lady Gray is really Tmax.
arista is a brand indeed. as far as I know it's rebadged kodak tri-x. the production of arista premium has ceased 2 years ago. there are other arista films still in production. but these are not kodak.
Arista is a brand name of Freestyle. A part of the import from Foma film in the Czech Republic is running via this way. In Europe they are selling under their own Fomapan film name (FP100 classic -FP200 creative -FP400 action and Retropan 320 soft). Especially in Europe their prices are real value for the money. Compared with Fuji (Acros 100) a Fomapan 100 film is exactly half price now.
My Zorki started giving me some troubles so I transferred the film into my Fed 5. I'll finish the roll & develop. I think there are some small chips of film in the Zorki so I think I can fix the 2c.
Lady Grey is a fine film. I've read it is & is not T Max. There is a discussion on it over at rff. Whatever it is it's a good looking film. Once I use up my Arista I have some Kentmere to use.
