Look at the place for someting, what is it for? All anniversary models that I know had the extras on prism top. But this space looks like it was intended to have a badge?
Body is latin #91026856 and "MADE IN USSR" if that helps.

Best regards,
Juhani

See http://www.zenitcamera.com/mans/zenit-122/zenit-122-eng.html -- "Camera design" chapter.

This is the "film check pocket" or the "pocket for a commemorative paper".

Thank you Zoom!
But why haven't I seen it before? Was it used only for a short time in the beginning of 122-production?
Just checked my records: I have owned one 1991 manufactured 122 but that one didn't have the pocket. And I guess the serial makes this an early 91-body, as well over 200.000 were made in 1991.

Yes. But I didn't investigate when it was happened...
As for me, this pocket is an absolutely useless thing... As you see, the second design team of this camera was agree with me. ;)

Hi Juhani,

At least 3 versions of mass-production Z-122 are known at the moment:

1st version comes with Zenit markings in Cyrillic characters + film info compartment, appr. 35.000 units released in 1990.
2nd version comes with export markings already + film infor compartment, appr. 135.000 units released in 1990-1991.
3rd version comes without film compartment already since 1991 ...

Hoping this will help you to determine the rarity of discussed sample [:)]

Best Regards,
Aidas
