Zhang, this is in fact the earlier example I have seen. SSK book (Suglob, Shaternik, Kochergin) shows this as the first iteration but their example picture is a later one with serial #5652624 that looks identical with vertically ribbed winding and rewinding knobs. Congratulations!
A note about the book - I am second day into it the level of attention to variations of a single camera is mind boggling. I am still on page 70 after 2 days, there's just so much detail. 12 variations of Zorki-4! Amazing. (For some reason after meeting and knowing Alain Berry, I can totally see him reading and cursing over it, counting the models he is missing [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]). So funny, just an image I have in my mind. [:D][:D][:D][:D].
Cheers,
Vlad

You're right some early Zorki 4 share parts with Zorki 3C. Here's another 56 sample :

Hello Jed,
Many thanks for your information. I am sorry to hear your loss of the early Zorki-4.[:(!] I think the s/n of early Zorki-4 are mixed with those Zorki-3,3M, and 3C made in 1956 as only some 10,000+ Zorki-4s were made that year.
Aidas on his excellent site mentioned an even earlier Zorki 4, but I can't recall the owner's name off-hand.[:I]
Kind Regards,
Zhang
