LOMO: your help is needed

Dear friends,

I'd like to ask your help in material about LOMO history and cameras. I have plans to create a new website, dedicated to 100th Anniversary of LOMO factory (2014). A lot of documents and cameras are already assembled, but many prototype cameras are still missing in my archives. I have discussed with SSK book authors recently and they have promised to assist me as they could.

Among members of our Forums there are many collectors with unique Lomo collections indeed. I would like to ask all of you to share the quality pics of cameras and documents with me.

I'm not able to write LOMO history myself, but I have enough practise to show all (almost all) possible Lomo cameras, released since 1929. Since new LOMO website is intended to be in Russian language only (sorry ... [V]), all interesting cameras would be placed on www.sovietcams.com either.

I have contacted some of you directly, but I have no possibilities to contact you all, sorry ...

Aidas, as I said on the phone with you earlier today - fantastic idea!

I forgot to mention something though. In terms of more historical material - something to add to your list - I don't know if you have the "Lubitel+ Love from waist level" book from Lomographic society, the author Michael Kuhle (I have no idea why his name is not on the cover though) had assembled some historical data in it on Lubitel cameras including the profiles on actual camera designers. Maybe it can be used as a reference. And our friends Alain and Luiz are in that book as well, as well as myself and this site get an honorary mention on credits page [:D]. I have it, if needed I will be more than happy to ship it to you for reference.

it is really great idea! I have some interesting Fotokor cameras, not presented in SSK book (special issues? home made?) and a collection of pocket calendars [:)] with LOMO production of 1985. I can make for you some photos of them.

I was very surprised, that my idea was met so kindly. I already have some experience with memebers of our Forums in camera evolution researches. Just remember a "Komsomolets" camera classifier for instance ...

But I would like to say a special thanks to Juhani for our never-ending investigations in Smena "Klondikes" indeed! [:)]

Now I can say for sure, if you want to know the history of LOMO, it's enough to know the evolution of Smena cameras. I will try to prove my theory quite soon ... [:)]

Your idea is really marvelous!
In 1990 and 1995 I booked a visit to LOMO factory and had a very good welcome. I believe there will be no problem to you. I had a long conversation with them and the grat point of the visit which astonished me was the LOMO Museum. Today I believe it was partly dismantled. The origins of LOMO remaains in the French shop of Debrie pehaps 1909/1910 which became a factory in 1914. By this same reason they specialized in movie cameras (KINAP) tape recorders, disc recorders, microphones loudspeakers and auditorium paraphernalia. During WW1 they transfered factories from Lithuania (I believe) Goerz and Zeiss which repaired and made simple lenses and assemblies to Leningrad which further were amalgamented in a single holding (or trest) as they call.
This true history perhaps could be assisted by the museum curator which I believe should be the better person to assist in organizing such beautiful pages. Since now I am expressing my personal interest in such work towards the publication in Portuguese language.

At least 2 interesting books about LOMO history were issued in 1964 and 1982 (I have both of them already ... [:p]) and very informative article by Andrey Sheklein in present time, plus many small articles at Sovietskoe Foto magazine, etc ...

I'm searching for quality pics of GOMZ prewar wooden 13x18 and 18x24 cameras, please help me!

I have an information, that some wooden prewar cameras were released with VOOMP markings on the lens. May be any of our respectable Members owning such a camera as well? Any materials would be very appreciated!

This facts are not from the LOMO (GOZ, GOMZ) history.

I possess a complete set 13x18 wood camera whith GOMZ logo (Industar 4 lens) from 1938 (filters set from Gomz whith hammer and sickle and star marks)
