An extremely rare lens a white face /Large front Russar 20mm for Kiev 4 etc. Cannot be appled on Kiev 5.
It locks in the inner bayonet and has no focusing capabilities.
Note that there are another unamed model without the outer ring.

I have the same lens as well. What I found interesting is that the rear cap fits the length of the lens cell itself and has the "KNEB" logo molded in it..

This is a different version with focus scale.
There is another one (Black)in fixed focus.
I will try to find.

Good point, Alain.

Normally most lenses contain a Depth Of Field Scale above the aperture . That way one can use the hyperfocal focusing system to achieve the proper f-stop. This lens however does not offer a DOF scale.

Being a 20mm, I think it safe to say that a higher f-stop would get you sharp images to infinity.

Doesn't the 35mm have the DOF Scale above the aperture control?

Screwy system....prototype lens.

This other one, at

http://www.ussrphoto.com/Wiki/default.asp?WikiCatID=28&ParentID=2&ContentID=646&Item=Russar+MR%2D2+for+Kiev

Has an external removable ring with etched scale that substitutes original Kiev's inner scale. you reach 5cm closest distance.

I have an email sent to me from Marc James Small that added a couple interesting points concerning this lens. It was sent back in 2004 when I came across the lens on eBay. At that time we were members of the Russian Cameras Group on Yahoo. I contacted the group because I never heard of this lens and questioned its design.

I will locate his reply and see about posting here.

ho ho....[:I] friends :
please stop !
my picture is somethoing like a joke ...
explanations (and apologies please [B)])
what you see there is a test I made months ago . I cut a bad Jupiter kiev lens , take off the baïonnet (shortest as possible) , then take a 39mm zenit B screw mount and fit a normal 39mm Russar.
the result is unuseable because I cannot make as compact as necessary to take infinity picture focus (only macro).
Here is dismantle assembly :
