The story of a "Russian lens technician"

Hi all, I found this story today on Gizmodo quite interesting. A Russian guy in NYC had made this setup. This is probably the earliest lens I've seen mounted on a DSLR. The only reason I thought that was relevant for this forum is the ingenuity of Russian lens technicians [:D].
