Will any of the Industar lenes fit the FED2 with the small range-finder sensor cam?

I purchased what I think is an early FED2 fitted with the Industar 61

When focusing I can't focus at 1 mt if I move away it comes into focus at 1.200mts from the subject.

Then if I move 5mts back from the subject the scale on the lens is showing only 1.4mts.

I did read that some of the FED 1s need another type of lens.

So I thought why not try the lens ( pop out type) from my FED 1.. bingo .. using it in the FED2 it will focus at 1mt and at 5mts the lens scale is also showing 5mts.

My question is the Industar 61 the wrong lens for this camera.. or has someone fitted the wrong sensor cam?

The answer is a definitevely "NO".
Old FED with pin sensor does not correctly operate lenses for "triangle" sensors. That is easy to explain:
old lenses type Industar 10 have around 49mm focal length. Industar 26, 61 industar 50 jupiter 3 and 8 have Fl near 54mm and all of them have no helicoid compenstion. That way the focusing on early feds will be incorrect. The only solution is to recalibrate the rangefinder for 3metre and let the depth of focus do the rest. you will have no correct focus at 1m nor at infinity, although results wil be satisfactory. If you use a 135mm lens surely you will have sharpness problems. wide angles you can gessestimate. Your beautiful FED Lunakhod camera does not work with the fitted industar 61 that came with it.

But FED2 should work with any Industar 61 lens. Am I wrong?

I have solved one problem.. but still can't get the lens focusing through the total range.

When the camera arrive the focus was very tight .. the seller told me because the lens was new it would be tight and I could try some of that CR free-up stuff.. I didn't.

But I did remove the lens form the camera and it was turning fine...back in the camera it would bind and several spots. also the range finder was only working between 1.m and 1.7m.

I did some web research on adjusting range finders and soon realised the the sensor cam was facing left the wrong way and not meshing with the lens bezel.

Now I have the range finder/lens working I'm getting some results.. but not 100%.. I have tested with film....all the way through from 1m to about 10m the results look fine. Focusing on any distant object the split image will not line up and the distance scale is showing 10-20m.. the results on distant shots are out of focus..

I will now test with another industar lens and see if I get the same results.


Note on the lens: When I purchased the camera I took a screenshot of the eBay advert.. and when all the problems started I did check the lens number on the screen shot and the camera I had purchased .. it was NOT the same lens.. contacted the seller and was told the lens had been changed because it had bad internal workings..Now is is where things get a TAD strange .. being not a nice type of person lol.. I checked his listings because I remembered there was more that one of they model of camera listed..... guess what...the original lens that was on my camera ..is now on another...I'm confused.

It looks like the range finder sensor cam and the lens bezel are not running true.. the focus is still tight in several places.. if I remove the lens form the camera it focus ring will turn as smooth as silk.

Don't think I will spend any more time on this and get on with other things .. like looking on eBay for a early FED that works 100% .. okay I realise because of the age of these cameras it's a big ask.

I was told the best of the mid 1950, cameras is the FED 2 .. I have two FED2s so far that don't work 100%.. wish me luck third time lucky.

I had the same problem with a Fed 1f equipped with a correct Jupiter 3. Correct, only for date reasons: all was from 1951.
I tried to make pictures with the two. The rangefinder was perfectly calibrated from 1m to 10m. Nothing after.
At 10m/f5,6-8, the depth of field is good from 5m to infinity. Usable, even if a bit too restrictive. No more problem after putting an Industar 10...

Rangefinder M39 lens system includes:
Post wsr Industar 22/26/50/61, 61L and 61LD. Jupiter 3/8. Russar MR2, Jupiter 12, 9 and 11 -All these lenses perfectly couple to "triangle- sensor".
Pre and post war FED (Industar 10), pre war FED 35 and FED 100 couples to "pin- sensor" - Prewar industar -macro is uncoupled.
Other lenses are considered prottypes as Magnolia 1, Orchidea 1, Jupiter 17 etc are post war and probably couples to triangle.
These postwar lenses works perfectly in all Zorki cameras except the prototypes (1948 years).
In the FED 2 Only flash Synchronized ones, when they were originally equipped with Industar 26; when the rangefinder was changed. All FED 3, 4, and 5 series.
Early ones needed to be used must have the rangefinder changed for a more recent type. Not recommended- or work between its own limits.
