Hi,

This is for a record. I bought this lens in Moscow when I was stationed there. It has a small s/n that is smaller than M Princelle's(001490).Has anyone owned an earlier Jupiter-6?[:)]
What makes it interesting is that it has a price sticker on the leather case, a not so cheap 200 rubles! I understand 1 ruble's official rate was about 2 US dollars in the 1970's. I don't have the exact figure, but this was a very expensive lens then.

Cheers,

Zhang

Ho, i forgot alain's specs about the serial numbers !
It sounds like 00 in the begining for a VIP class, and 000 for the major first class VIP...
So maybe not earlier (but maybe yes, i don't know), but best build with particular controls...

Some of you there may write more precision about...

Hi seka,

Are you kidding?[:0] 000 for 1st class VIP? Who is alain?

I hope it is true nevertheless.

Cheers,

Zhang

Nope.
The first zeros specify that it is an experimental or a pre-seria batch. Sometimes an experimental batches were numbered differently. The quantity of zeros has no value.

I guess Zoom's explanation is a more believable issue about zeros than mine... Thanks !
I'm so sad, Zhang, you're not the first VIP i would let you to be, but a simple pre-serial guy !!![B)]

However, to be serious, my Jup6 sample is really a good lens to use, very sharp, neutral rendition, clean bokeh, etc... Could not notice differences on photos taked beetween it and the original Sonnar.

Friendly yours.

Dear Mermoz37, Zhang talk about big brother Jupiter 6 (180/2.8) instead of Helios 40...

But if you permited, i have a question about H-40 : Do you notice a difference about coating beetween "Red T" one and mass normal product of your Helios 40 ? Thanks.

Hi Alain,

I was about to show off my 000878 Helios-40, but you beat me. 000158 could be a member of the party central committe, so a VIP with no question.[:D]

My Tair-3 Grand Prix 4.5/300 has a s/n 000887. Any earler Tair-3 out there?[;)] 000887 could be one of the army generals.

Cheers,

Zhang

Zhang

Ok Mr Seka ..my monster J-8 is 003865...
anyway , no differences between H40 and H 40T (not red T but "Helios 40 - T"
some one told me "T" means this lense is ready for use in Antartic temperatures...(?) may be.
I know a wite painted (expensive too) TAir 300-T for such use...

My lowest sn in optics are :
Zodiak 2m 7000001 (illustrated in Pricelle's) and Zoom Rubin 002 (39mm screw !)...

Index "T" -- "for Television".
Very rare -- "Tropical variant".
