Interesting. Ш probably stands for Широкоугольный - Wide-angle.

According to Photohistory.ru, Ш stands for "школьный"- school-training..

to be honest that doesn't make much sense to me for it to be for school-training [:)]... Ш can mean a lot of things [:)]

Ш stands for Шарикоподшипник (ball-bearing). This lens has ball-bearing mechanism of the diafragm-ring.
