On eBay there is a silly fake of a FED-Zorki 1949 with "Export" engravings:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/183871950259

Sure it's a fake made in our days. It was sold once but reposted some days ago. The seller refuse to sell it for $100.- (that's my price for such fakes) so it will stay online for some more weeks I guess. The shipping from Russian Federation is with $35.- too high I think. I usually pay less than $20.- for that.

Best wishes - Guido

Probably we all saw that fake...
Some were made to improve the original series: I have some Fed 1 in that case.
Others only to make (not really much) money. It seems the reason here...

Amitiés, Guido and Luiz.

Yes, even receiving spool seems to be fake. Fake because is seems to be from Leica.
Strange situation [;)]

If this were a true export version, then the baseplate would not have cyrillic texts in Russian.
Not to talk about the lens...
So a poor fake.

Best regards,
Juhani

I don't understand why anyone would fake feds or zorki's. They're not expensive rare cameras, unlike Leicas!

Hello Derek

Take a look at eBay (actual auctions): FED-Zorki 1948: 600 Euro, FED-Zorki 1949: 850 Euro (both in not so good condition), an unknown (in this case faked) FED-Zorki 1949 "Export" ... much more! Or this FED-1a offered for long time there: 3000 Euro, or that TSVVS #7 offered for years: 10000 US$, now "only" 7000 US$ (not clear if faked or not).

Rare cameras are investments in our days. On former Westlicht Auctions some of them (very rare Leicas and so) are sold for more than an half of a million Euros. This are not collector prices but financial transactions like investments in art.

Best wishes - Guido
