Arrived yesterday. Any translators? Running first roll through it.

Ran a test roll through the FED 5 and have found substantial flaking and light leaks on the shutter curtain. I have removed what I can of the flaking and have applied a light coat of acrylic black paint thinned with water to the curtain. So far it looks to have done the trick. I'm putting another light coat on it tonight and then let it set for a day. I'll then run another roll through it and see how it goes. In the future this is something I'll check before putting film into a camera with a curtain.

Vlad, I've just noticed this thread, and you've just made me want to know what it says on the bottom of the box.

David, I daren't open a camera to try and repair it, I'd never get it back to together and working, I'd only ever make the problems worse.

on the bottom of the box it says "For your birthday from grandpa Stepan and grandma Olya, November 1983 from the bottom of our souls"

Now I wish I knew how old Konstantin was on this birthday. I also want to know where he went with it and what photos he took with it, lol.
