Hello All,
I was wondering about the comparative rarity of certain cameras and lenses as against their counterparts. How do we define, common, rare, very rare, and even ultra rare?
For example, are the Lilliput or Maliyutka rare? Idon't know, but I can tell everyone that in ten years of camera, "hunting" I have only ever come across one of each, and they are not good examples, the Lillyput is broken, and my Maliutka is not complete. By comparison and to put this into perspective during the same period I came across perhaps three hundred to four hundred Fed-1's, (very early Fed-1's excepted), perhaps one thousand Kiev/Contax 35mm rangefinders even more Zorki-'s, literally thousands of Kiev/Vega, kiev-30,etc, etc.
To my mind and despite the fact that the Lillyput and Maliyutka are plastic they were made as far as I know in fairly large quantities. Maybe I've just been looking in the wrong places![:)]
I know that these were only cheap plastic cameras, but they had their role in history. So I would be interested to know if other forum members have them in their collections.[:)][:)][:)]
Regards, Jim
