Hi,
the forum software apparently has some problems with Cyrillic text. On a forum dedicated to Soviet equipment that is a real problem.
In the normal message body it looks like this: "#1042; #1073;#1086;#1088;#1100;#1073;#1077; #1079;#1072; #1076;#1077;#1083;#1086; #1051;#1077;#1085;#1080;#1085;#1072; #1075;#1086;#1090;#1086;#1074;?"
In the signature it looks like, well, see below :)
Philipp
#1060;#1086;#1090;#1086;#1072;#1087;#1087;#1072;#1088;#1072;#1090;— #1087;#1088;#1080;#1073;#1086;#1088;* #1074;#1099;#1089;#1086;#1082;#1086;#1081; #1090;#1086;#1095;#1085;#1086;#1089;#1090;#1080;. #1045;#1089;#1083;#1080; #1089; #1085;#1080;#1084; #1087;#1088;#1072;#1074;#1080;#1083;#1100;#1085;#1086; #1086;#1073;#1088;#1072;#1097;#1072;#1090;#1100;#1089;#1103;, #1089;#1086;#1073;#1083;#1102;#1076;#1072;#1090;#1100; #1080;#1085;#1089;#1090;#1088;#1091;#1082;#1094;#1080;#1102;, #1087;#1088;#1080;#1083;#1072;#1075;#1072;#1077;#1084;#1091;#1102; #1082; #1072;#1087;#1087;#1072;#1088;#1072;#1090;#1091;, #1086;#1073;#1077;#1088;#1077;#1075;#1072;#1090;#1100; #1086;#1090; #1084;#1077;#1093;#1072;#1085;#1080;#1095;#1077;#1089;#1082;#1080;#1093; #1087;#1086;#1074;#1088;#1077;#1078;#1076;#1077;#1085;#1080;#1081; #1080; #1079;#1072;#1075;#1088;#1103;#1079;#1085;#1077;#1085;#1080;#1081;, #1086;#1085; #1084;#1086;#1078;#1077;#1090; #1087;#1088;#1086;#1089;#1083;#1091;#1078;#1080;#1090;#1100; #1084;#1085;#1086;#1075;#1086; #1083;#1077;#1090; #1073;#1077;#1079; #1088;#1077;#1084;#1086;#1085;#1090;#1072;.

Phillip,
unfortunately at this time I am still working on the support for Cyrillic in the forums.. <b>The catalog section fully supports Cyrillic text.</b>
The reason forum does not yet because I've used an out-of-the-box forum software that saved me hundreds of hours of work because I really wanted this site to be up as soon as I could by requests of many collectors..
This web site is a love child of a few collectors and we are working on it in our spare time since we all got full-time jobs... it is not by far finished, there are a lot more very good changes coming in the very near future, you will be pleasantly surprised by many of them!
I hope this temporary drawback will not prevent you in contribution to this community. Russian is my first language so be assured I am taking this issue as highest priority, in the meantime we can communicate in English can't we? :)
Thanks,
Vlad.

Спасибо за быстренькое решение проблемы :)
EDIT: It still doesn't work in the signature, though. (Not the most pressing of problems, I admit.)

oh all right, thanks for letting me know, I personally don't use the signature so I didn't notice it, but I'll troubleshoot it the first chance I get.
Thanks for all your help!

Actually try deleting your signature and retyping it.. because I think these # characters are never going to convert now to normal Russian. If you start over it may work, but I haven't tried it... let me know if it fixes it for you.
Thanks,
Vlad.

OK, it seems to work now.

Excellent! Just keep in mind this is an international forum, not everyone speaks Russian, so please no actual posts in Russian [:)]
Thanks,

Cyrillic fonts:
About code: There are used two type codes for the cyrillic fonts:
Old Russian sites use (KOI8-r) like the splendid "Photohistory .ru" from Mr Georgy Abramov and the (1251) more recently used in the other ones. Unhappyly the first one is unreadable for those who haven't installed in their PC the old code. The Russian "PROMPT Translator" had a transliteration tool for reading those sites. Unfortunatedly they have no more this useful tool.
Being this a Russian dedicated site, I suggest a KOI8-r>1251 converter tool somewhat in this site aiming the use of all members.

This site uses 1251 encoding which is standard windows cyrillic that shows up in browsers with no problems. I Abramov's site is 1251 as well because I've been translating cyrillic from that site...

This is the exact presentation of Abramov's site in my screen.
Other Russian sites appears normally. Any suggestion?

I see what you pasted in Russian on this forum... He does not have correct meta tag for the front page that sets the encoding, you gotta do it manually.. you just have to go to your browser encoding settings and set it to Windows-1251 in IE7 you go to "Page" pulldown on top right and select encoding. In Firefox you go to "View" menu then character encoding.
Hope that helps,
Vlad.

I have done! but in my menu in Firefox there is a "auto detect- encode" You select Russian and is all OK. there is no need to change codes it does it automatically.
Thank you for the explanation.
