Ciev-Kontax

Hello to all,

what do you think about this? The guys who made this must be crazy:

The name is very well engraved on the front mask but the big "C" is not broad enough compared to an original. The chrome of the front mask differs from the chrome of the body, so they took a later Kiev 4 mask or one from the Kiev no name. I will disassemble it soon to see what's under there. And btw., this also a body with a very very slooooowww shutter :-/

So, I opened the camera and took the front mask off. It's funny, in the late 40ies the sowjets hammered out the Contax logo and engraved Kiev, here someone hammered out the Kiev logo and reengraved the Contax name :-)

I have cocked the shutter several times, it runs better now, but I am sure, when I leave it untouched for 2 days it will be slow again. Maybe I throw it in an ultrasonic cleaner (just kidding).

Or what about this: someone is making FEDs and Zorkis to look like chinese Shanghai-582 which is a very crude copy of Leica. These copies are usually better than the original in function [:o)]

Take a good look at the lens too.

I once saw one marked <b>f=5cc</b>..[;)]

As you can see someone erases the "Jupiter" engraving and engraved really bad the word SONNAR. The Contax name is much better made.
