I am unsure if there are any "real" Siberias. However, if there are they would have been made out of pre-war Feds, probably Kombinats.
The bottom release would not have been modified because you would have had to load and unload film indoors at room temp to avoid static electricity damage to the film and breakage of the fragile frozen film.

I have a few pictures of my Fed Siberia posted in the WIKI under the "Fantasy" Section.
Please excuse me for not knowing how to bring up a couple shots to add to this thread, but if you're interested take a look.
This camera is a Kombinat. What I find to be a very nice added touch is the specially machined front lenscap.

For me too, it's a fake, even if the general characteristics are coherent: serial number, engravings, shutter speeds beginning by 1/20th and even the lens stops. All that shows a modified 1f. As for the price...
I agree with Nathan: if there are real Siberias, they are made from 1d-s.
Amitiés. Jacques.

I also agree.
There would have to be a number of issues taken care of in order to make a camera cold/weather proof. As I recall JLP also considers these "Siberia's & Paulis's" to be a folly.
Interesting to see the lengths some will go to sell a camera.
