see http://www.novacon.com.br/odditycameras/selena.htm
This lens was made for Selena Police cameras This camera uses the same Shutter of Chaika cameras and I believe they were made in M39 mount. Otherwise they have common diaphragm and no pre set ones.
The camera register is also different from Zorki or Zenit.

Now in my hands. Normal Zenit-M42 mount, and does focus to infinity. But aperture lever has no space to move, lens mount gets in the way. So it can be used on B, E etc Zenits with manual aperture control. The lens aperture ring has a groove to couple into something, so Selena propably had some kind of external control system? Pics to come tomorrow!

Pls explain better -----But aperture lever has no space to move,-----
Are you describing the "U" shape part responsible in auto coupling lenses with pin for auto diaphragam/-"M" series?

Yes, same part. And seen from lens side the lens has parts that come further into camera than usually. On the other hand this lens is as short as the Helios-44 so it is not a typical old formula.

translation of text

Both objectives were intended for the recording camera (RFK) " Selena", calculated for the frame 24x36 mm.

It appeared to me one of these miracle of technology!
Objective “Jupiter-38” (M42) 4/76, diaphragm 4-22, according to the scale - it possesses large depth of focus. Judging by the marks (on thelens) - BelOMO. It is possible using Pentax-K mount adapting transfering ring in M42 - It gives outstanding pictures. The distance focusing goes up to no more than 10m (on Zenit cameras goes to 4.5m) the rear of objective begins to catch mirror and makes the focusing impossible (in large distances).
Although it is possible to evaluate through the hiperfocal.
In the "Jupiter -39" the focusing is completele normal. I.e. it is possible the use with SLRs,
This is interesting, the focusing ring and the diaphragm ring is built as on rangefinder cameras. I.e. the focusing ring is nearer to the pentaprism.
There are said that these objectives are collectible items now. They are part of the Recording camera of "RFK Selena". Produced to the police in the form of an encased set.
Probably so it is, because to from the familiar sign from the police to the written as needless items. By the way, judging by their conditions, no one used them since new.
Thus it is interesting, who knowa using similar objectives?. Are there any descriptive literature?
What for is such recording camera?

Note : One can see a similar “Agfa Register Camera” at Mc Keown’s book.

No problems on Zenit-E with mirror, and does focus to infinity. But like I said, on eg 122 the shutter can not be released at all. Same problem mounting on modern K-mount cameras: the lens rear is too big! So yes, can be used with old Zenits that have manual aperture and small mirror.

As it works on old Zenit E, so will do wit old Contax S and D.
Advantages of old design!
