Yes, 20 years of Lomography, but not a Russian camera. The LOMO LK-A+, is now made in China. Does anyone know how the Lomographic Society persuaded LOMO (Russia), that their name could be used for the manufacture of cameras now made in China? Does LOMO(Russia), receive a royalty payment on each camera sold? Maybe that is why the price is so inflated. Or is it LOMO (Russia) that contracts the manufacture in China? The same also applies to the Lubitel as sold by the Lomographic Society.

Although the pubicity material from the Lomographic Society is very interesting to watch, it doesn't answer my questions. Does anyone know the answers?

I wouldn't necessarily call this Lomography publicity, it's not a promotional video, it's a BBC journalistic piece.

Everything shows the face of our new era. You had Contaxes made by Yashica, Carl Zeiss and Voigtlander lenses made by Cosina, Zeiss Ikon rangefinder made by Konica and now Cosina, Leica made by Panasonic and even Nikon cameras and lenses are no more made by Nikon. all Kodaks come from Seagull and so on... I had seen Kodak films made in China! If you go back one can tell you that LOMO LCA are direct descendants of cosina CX Lubitel cameras are now produced in China. albeit the price I bought one and it is admirably better made than their Russian counterparts. Including the new lenses!
While original Lubitel lenses are further production of the NETTAR from Rodenstock with Zeiss name, the new Lubitel T-22 (still so named) are based on better NOVONAR os Eastern Zeiss branch. And what you say about Chinese "Carl Zeiss" named lenses applied on Sony cameras?

Hi Luiz,

I agree completely with your observations, but it many cases production using previously well known names continued either because the original company ceased trading or by agreement with the owner of the company name. In the case of LOMO, the company still exists and therefore I am interested to know how and under what conditions the Lomographic Society or the Chinese manufacturer has gained the rights to use the LOMO name.
