FED 2L

Similar to 2D but with black nylon covering and black trim ring around lens as well as top and bottom. Also no strap lugs. Always fitted with Industar 61 (usually zebra/panda version) with Lanthanum rare earth element/s (contrary to some sites, it seems all versions of 61s are so endowed), hence the "L".

Only FED-2 model with official alphabetical classification by factory. Some sites claim that some bodies were marked with an "L" as well but I have yet to see one. Only factory identification will be on passport. See dvdtechcameras.com site for photo of camera and accompanying passport.

DVDTechnik also has a photo of what Princelle calls a 2E (FED-3 with FED-2 shutter) fitted with a 61 and called a "2L" on its pasport. While it is easily understood why the factory would call all its FED-2s fitted with an Industar 61 "FED-2L", it is perplexing for collectors!
