Talking about price we forgot to congratulate Stephan with such great find!
Really nice serial number!

meaning that the lens did cost more than an average monthly wage...

which is almost normal (a ZI 85mm/2 today costs far more than a month wage in the EU)

Both Zhang and Zoom are correct indeed, only Zhang have converted the average monthly sallary to denominated value already.

This price is written correctly. Kievuser forgot, that in 1961 there was a denomination... ;)

My father said that he paid 900 rubles for a Zorki-2C in 1956 in Moscow.:-)

Hi Stephan,

In 1958, the average monthly salary of Soviet employees was 77.8 rubles, and the minimum salary between 1956-1960 was 27-35 rubles.:-) 1 kilograme flour(1st grade) cost 0.31 ruble , and 1 kilograme beef(1st grade) cost 1.5 ruble in 1959.
