Hello!

What exactly is the difference between MTO and Rubinar lenses?
Wiki states that Rubinar lenses are built cheaper but they are usually more expensive and, as some sources on the web say, have better image quality than MTO due to additional corrective lenses.

I'd be especially interested in the difference between MC MTO-11CA (1000mm f/10) and the corresponding MC Rubinar 10/1000.

Regards,
Christian

I'm not very familiar with all that, but it seems really striking. I never thought it was possible.

Can you give us some images when your telescope is tested?

Incredible...

Jacques.

This looks awesome, Luiz!

Please provide some sample images if you find the time.

Hello Companions!

in order to show complete technical details and concept basis on the construction of my telescope, I decided to show it in the wiki catalog followinf Vlad views. everything is shown at:

Amazing, Luiz!
How long have you been working on this?

I'm not very good at optics and engineering, what is the advantage of the spherical design?
I've never seen anything like this.

Regards,
Christian

thaks Vlad
I have a hundred fotos of the telescope and fll detailed reserach including construction stages
It needs to be assembled togeter to form a coherent article.
I can do this in the near future.

Wow! Luiz as always you keep fascinating! Do you have this design in a complete document by any chance so we can create a wiki article? Amazing work!

Best regards,
Vlad

i REALLY DID NOT MADE ANY PHOTOGRAPHS BUT THE VISUAL RESULTS ARE THE SAME OF THE CONSVENTIONAL LENS.
i AM JUST PRODUCING 40 PIECES FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF AMAZONAS. i BELIEVE THEY WILL TEST TEHM FOR ME.

Looks great and very unusual!

Have you made any sample photographs to compare sharpness and contrast to other reflex lenses?

Optically the Rubinar is superior when new. but imposes periodiacally cleaning once it has na open mechanical ans is subjected to air dirdy

MTO is mechancal superior and needs less maintenance. In practical uses the diferences are unoticeable including in great enlargements once none are free from vibrations.
ragarding general use I personally prefer the classic old type MTO of second generation, although in my Project I believe had solved all problems.

Thank you, Luiz!
I'd be very interested in your project.

Which one is optically superior in your opinion?
MC MTO-11CA or the Rubinar?

Christian

Dear Niko
I was extensively using and studying the Soviet Mak lenses as excelent astronomical pieces. They occured in three generations. The first one was the MTOM with a heavy wooden case and three filters. This was renamed MTO-100 and had slight mechanical changes, All those lenses were only made in M39 mount. The second generation was represented by the MC MTO-11CA Has the same optical basis but has some slight diferences. 1 -Multicouated 2- front achromat meniscos 3-A mount enabling use M39, M42, K, Kiev 10 and N mounts thtrough removable rears, and na authentic leather case.

Rubinar series are different lenses 1 -Acromat front divergent meniscus with removable divergent mirror centered. this obliges a hole in the middle of the two front lenses. 2-Four elements rear Barlow lens block giving near 1.2x enlarging
Although the difficulties in building the new lwns this one was cheaper than previous types.
By this reason, quality control was poorer, accepting refused units with small chips. also the mechanical construction was poorer and sloppy
I developed a new and completely diferent objective basedon Rubinar series with na all new mechanical basis.
that I will show to you the next days.
