Posted - Aug 23 2014 : 12:02:57 AM Hey all, I need some help here.
A friend of mine got this camera which I can't quite authenticate. And here's what he has. According to 1200 Cameras book Start-2 was made 1962 and the serial # here is from 1960 - 6000006, also it's supposed to have the selenium meter inside the pentaprism with 2 contacts which is also absent. Also I the lens is not supposed to have the jumping aperture button anymore. Opinions? Here's the camera:

Besides the engraving on logo and serial # the camera does not exhibit any of the Start-2 characteristics mentioned in the literature, and is identical to a 1961-1962 Start-1. BTW if anyone wants to buy this one for fun the owner is open for offers
Cheers, Vlad

Posted - Aug 25 2014 : 09:32:34 AM Thank you Luiz for your opinion, we will also check the lens mount to see if there is a mechanism for jumping diaphragm, we at least need to find some corresponding feature described for Start-2. Otherwise it's just a regular Start with a different engraving... If it's no different from Start-1 then I don't see the point of this camera
Best regards, Vlad.

Posted - Aug 23 2014 : 11:10:36 PM Hello Very little o say. The lens obviously is out of question, once original Sport 2 can receive both, the old and new types. The camera number is also intriguing. The solution to know it is a fake or not is to access the internal face of the script "START-2" and microscopically see the similaritiies to the other engravings taken as original ones as X, M. Note the cāmera number could also be a fake. Number and name seems to me with a very light engravings. but KMZ did several modifications and diferente prototypes before a new model be decided
