you must be happy because you know more about Kiev cams than the sellers.
I think it was good that you didn't buy the 300 years Fed, am I right.

Hi Jacques,
I bought 9 Kiev Contaxes plus one Zorki 3. I didn't attend the fair today, I'm too busy. It took me 6 hours of hard research to find these cameras. Except the 4AM all Kievs are around 1950-55. One Kiev came with a 1950 'SK' 50 F2 lens. The rest is quite common.

You're right I didn't buy that camera - the price itself tells it's a fake. The engraving is well done, thought.

how do you think about the Zorki-1 with selftimer?
I have the same version of Zorki-5, but can't remove the vulcanite housing. I took the 4 screws in front and the lens mount off, but still can't move the housing. There must be another secret screw. If you ever disassemble it please tell me. |

I am not sure it was a self timer on Zorki 1 before
There is the same hole on leather case.
I need to disaemble the camera to see if it is not a later synchro flash plug.
What is interesting is that Aidas said 1B stops at #115000 when 1C starts at same number. This one should be a 1C, but body does not have the decorative rim of 1C and remains as a 1B.....
For Zorki 5, I'll try to give you some news asap.

the transition from 1B to 1C took a long time, at least up to #149xxx and there are still some 1B around #175xxx and #178xxx. But top plates with serial numbers can be changed. |
