Hello,
Sorry for this new thread about the Fed-Zorki. It's only about a detail. I have partially dismounted my s/n 3278, and there is a "1486" engraved Inside. Here it is:

If you have such a number, or any idea... Thanks!
Jacques.

Why didn't they stamp it, stamping is much faster. Maybe the camera was already assembled when it was engraved. |

This is "regular" Zorki camera. I cannot write more about the camer bacause I din't have it for few years. Only photos left. Number is also here. What could it be the number ? Maybe this is not part number bacause it should be the same number on the same element. Number of worker who assembled the camera using any code (e.g 1 at the beginning means first shift)?

Strange. I will have a closer look to this camera. Perhaps there are other oddities...

Yes, this is not a part number, because it was engraved. But there are part numbers and they can change, even when the part seems to be the same. For example the vulcanite housing. There is a number between the left screw hole and the middle screw hole on the front side. Zorki-C #560xxxxx has number 008 Zorki-C #570xxxxx has number 004 Zorki-C #572xxxxx has number 007 Zorki-C #580xxxxx has number 007 Zorki-1 #5xxxxx has number 004 These 3-digit part numbers seems to be in the mold form when the housing was made.
There are signs of workers on Zorkis, but these signs are not engraved like these 4-digits "1486" and "1207". Not every worker had an engraving machine at hand, but they could easily stamp signs, only a stamp and a hammer was needed. Also signs could be scratched with a needle.
Alfa, please tell us the s/n of your "regular" Zorki. |

I have some Zorkis that have engraved an additional number like Jacques' one.
- Zorki 1b serial 24824 on top, 5218 inside. Has additional hole under top like the Zorki 3 for the slow speed mechanism. Zorki-Zorki. - Zorki 1b 41734, 2708, with hole. - Zorki 1b 81670, 4291, no hole, Zorki-Zorki. - Zorki 1b 87385, 8743, no hole.
Edit: And I have found another one:
- Zorki 1c, 176944, 8625, no hole, Zorki-Zorki.

Very interesting, Ulrich. thanks. I wondered if the hole played a role in this: certainly not, as we have these numbers with or without hole.
The question is: do !all Zorkis have this internal number? And what specially about Fed-Zorkis?
Amitiés. Jacques. |
