does a repair manual, or blueprints for disassembly of a leningrad exist? it would be helpful to see any kind of instruction on reaching into its motor.

regrettably the motorized leningrad has no motor at all !!!! Only a giant extrathin spring built in the large advance knob does it all.
the mechanics is the same of Zorki 4 with some simplifications and ext strong steel pieces to support the advance stronke os the spring. Everything is seen with chrome top removed

This information you can find in I.Maizenberg book "All you need to know ...". This book is in English.

Maizenberg book is at

http://www.ussrphoto.com/Wiki/Content/files/1555/maizenberg.pdf

Unhappily it has no references on Leningrad cameras.
although leningrad follows Zorki 4 mechanics with certain similarities with Start constructio you can appreciate them and arrive to your own conclusions.

I have reassembled a Leningrad and taken photos about it (it's in german): <http://fotos.cconin.de/kameras/leningradrepair/index.htm>

The big knob with the spring can be opened by removing the two screws on the knob and pulling the knob. The spring sits in the housing it does not come out itself :-)

Vlad,

thanks, you have choosen a nice picture :-)

I have more photos, disassembling of a Zorki 4 and shutter replacement of a Zorki 3C. It's planned to make sites of this, but give me some time :-)

Btw, I have a Droug here where the long speeds don't work. Does anybody know how to open it? After removing the speed dial and the screws on left and right side the top cover does not come off. Where is the trap? :-)

Hi Luiz,

Thanks lots for you help !

Just received a cheap non working Leningrad.

It needed vertical rangefinder adjustment (horizontal was OK)
Yesterday I adjusted it (by the three screws) - I needed to remove top plate. Alas, now horizontal it's off :(
Little screw on the front plate look thiny - I'm reluctant to pick up my screedriver...

If you want a reliable rangefinder it will be needed to do a general refurbishment.

you need to remove completely the RF

to do so, in na accurate manner you need first to remove the slow speed gear train.

first of all remove the lens! (1)

set the speed to "B" and carefully remove the gears

to do so, loose the three screws of the first Picture.

Remove the screw 2!

Place a thin screw driver in the hole 2!
0r a needle -to avoid dephasing the gerar positions.

now remove the screus 3 and 4.

to be continued...

Operational Principle.
To understand the operation is a need for a perfect repair.
the following figure shows the image formation on the Leningrad rangedinder

http://www.ussrphoto.com/resize/resize_image.aspx?ImgWd=800&IptFl=/UserContent/2522015_leningrad rf 15.png

http://www.ussrphoto.com/UserContent/2522015_leningrad rf 15.png

At the internal curved surface one can see the limiting frames
Contrary to most ragefinders the central image is fixed while the surrounding one moves according to the lens position (focus)
