Hello,

It seems that the lettering on the front of 100mm lenses can be different.
My friend PYC found that it is a bit bigger on his 37021 (without pins),

and a bit smaller on his s/n 33044, with pins:

It would be interesting to know if this change was made together with the pins...
(Fed 100mm lenses, series from 30xxx to 39xxx. Pins up to the middle only, around 35000).

Amitiés. Jacques.

Hello Jacques

From my limited data of 34 lenses,
#34376 is the latest # with smaller engraving, with pins.
#34521 has larger engraving, with pins.
#34942 has larger engraving, latest # with pins
#35975 has larger engraving, earliest # without pins.

So it seems no connection between larger engraving and pins.

(Also note different positions of colon and comma in each engraving)

Cheers, Geoff

So, there were probably two pencils (or more) which were used together to engrave these front plates.

Thanks, Geoff.[:)]

If the interested forumers could put here their observations, on directly on the wiki, at http://ussrphoto.com/Wiki/default.asp?WikiCatID=87&ParentID=2&ContentID=317&Item=FED+100mm+f%3A6%2E3+

#36310 larger engraving, with black filling, more to outer side of front ring than in absolute center

But what are the pins?

Best regards,
Juhani

Thanks, Juhani.

Pins: the two small vertical screws on the crown, to help the owner to screw the lens on the body. There are pins too on the first 50mm rigid macro.

No pins on mine, neither the #14049 macro.
Stupid to leave them away.

Best regards,
Juhani
