It is with a heavy heart that I share some very sad, belated news: our long-time member, Guido Studer, passed away in December 2021. Due to the slow pace of our forum, I hadn't noticed his absence sooner. I’d like to thank Jacques for asking about him and Ulrich for discovering the news online through a message on one of his websites. Guido will be deeply missed—he was always ready to help with the site when I wasn’t very involved, and his extensive knowledge of the Soviet camera industry enriched our community. His legacy will remain with us as long as this forum is online.

Here is his obituary: https://www.hommages.ch/de/traueranzeige/guido-studer.

Rest in peace!

-Vlad

Vlad,

yes, this is really sad news. I had email contact with Guido for many years and always found him to be friendly and courteous. He started his collection of Russian cameras through me...
It's sad that it wasn't noticed sooner, but some participants here are absent for a long time and then turn up again, so I guess no one thought about why he didn't get in touch for so long.
Guido was my year, only a few days younger than me and it's very sad to see him pass away so soon.

R.I.P. my friend

Ulrich

Sad news, yes...
I had met him through Alain Berry -another great man on this forum. I appreciated his kindness, his sense of humour and of course his knowledge and curiosity about cameras: we had a common passion for the Canons!

During his last three years, we had mailed regularly, including on political matters. He would have been horrified by what happens now...

Farewell, Guido.
