I did. It actually easy to train eye and mind to imaging bigger picture. Harder to use J-11 without proper viewfinder. And difference between J-12 and standard J-8 lens is less then I expected. But with universal viewfinder available for roughly $50 it worth to get one for any lens.

Is parallax anything to worry about?

Parallax is not much issue if you planning to edit pictures later, but if you thinking about more then just playing with camera(as I did) you may consider to get viewfinder it will take guessing and uncertainty out of the job.

Well, with Leningrad you can use 35mm with normal finder. And with Kiev-5 the whole finder is pretty much 35mm. So it also depends on your camera.
But with Orion-15 28mm/f:6 you do need an extra finder.

OK, This is good to know too.
Presently I have just Fed and Zorki`s. I might consider a Kiev but not the ones with selenium meters. To me the on board meter eliminates one of the reasons I like shooting with a FSU camera.
I`m looking for a good Kiev 4 unless I discover it is not a good choice with Kievs.
Thank you,
John

I do not think Kiev-4 viewfinder has accommodation for other lenses. As mention Juhani, I believe only Kiev-5 and Leningrad have such options.

Honestly Vlad, I`d have no fear whatsoever buying anything from you but I have very little interest in a camera with built in metering. .
I have just this afternoon purchased a "supposedly" excellent Kiev 4AM with a "supposedly " excellent clear and clean smooth working Helios 103 lens attached. Alex`s descriptions have been good so far so I have to believe / hope this one will be fine too.
Regardless, I`ll fully intend to use / test this Kiev as I do with all my cameras to determine if I like Kievs well enough to collect additional ones.
Yesterday I received an Agfa Super Silette from Norway in fine condition and I will be shooting a roll with it soon.
I love all the Range finders, even the fixed lens types. One of my favorites is the Bolsey B2.
The Wollensak lens is very good.

John,

I was party kidding anyways, I know you're looking for the one without the meter.. I have found Alex to be a very reliable seller as did many of the users of this forum.. He tests the cameras pretty good before selling them.. I probably bought around 30 cameras from him with no issues, all work great.

It amazes me how my tastes can change so rapidly.
Two days ago I would not have considered a Kiev at all and now I am looking forward to receiving my first one and I can feel the body style growing on me all the time.
Who knows? I might end up being sorry I didn`t opt for the 4M after all.
