A fairly small number of FED 1 cameras was manufactured in 1941-1942 and/or 1946-1948 with new 'FED Zavod' engraving: „ФЭД завод им. Ф.Э. Дзержинского г. Харьков“
It is still unclear when the change from 'Kombinat' to 'Zavod' was introduced, some sources naming 1942-43. However, several passports dated to 1941 exist, including one for a FED-S (type e) found by Yuri Davidenko dated July 31th 1941 - 9 days after the beginning of Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union during WWII.
This would mean that serials up to at least 180.xxx were still manufactured before the German assault on Kharkov in October 1941 which led to the closure of the FED factory and a partial evacuation to Berdsk in Siberia. Most if not all FED1'e' cameras seem to have been manufactured in Kharkov but a small number may have been assembled during the time the FED factory was evacuated to Berdsk. However this is disputed and the cameras produced at Berdsk may have been FED NKAP.
