Posted - Jul 14 2011 : 09:43:29 AM Hello, I was a bit surprised on dismounting the front part of my Kiev II serial # 503737. At the reverse of this part, some traces, as if one had wanted to wipe something. "Kiev" was perhaps stamped too hard? The same circular traces can also be seen on some 1947 Kiev to wipe "Contax", that time! And, close to the selftimer, but on the lens plate, a number: "3536".
Thanks if you have explanations. Amitiés; Jacques.

Posted - Jul 15 2011 : 2:53:58 PM You are right, Jacques. It was tried to wipe "Contax". Some Contax parts was still used on Kiev cameras until 1953. The number 3536 ist the factory number of this part of the camera. The single parts could be produced separately on different factories and they had own registration number. I think 3536 is also such registration number of this part.
