All,

Aidas has posted this statement on social media a few days ago:

quote:

To whom it may concern: website SovietCams.com will be closed soon!
It's a pity to announce that SovietCams.com will be closed finally later this year! During the last 15 years I have spent many thousands of working hours to make this source informative and attractive for soviet camera lovers. The last few years has changed the situation completely. The lack of time and internal motivation didn’t allow me to maintain this website regularly. Therefore a lot of information in the website was OUTDATED totally and do not correspond my understanding of today's quality requirements.
I was asked to procrastinate with decision making few years ago, but nothing has changed since then. The maintenance of SovietCams.com cost me every single year, so it can not last forever. My big thanks to everyone, who has helped me to create this unique source! I have to assure you, that assembled huge amounts of unique information will be used in other modern projects, so won’t be lost. Thanks for your understanding!

BUT!!! Good news is that Aidas has given me a permission to host Sovietcams.com mirror indefinitely on USSRPhoto.com. This is purely an archival copy and will not have any changes. The address is:

http://ussrphoto.com/sovietcams/

Also there is a second official mirror on Mike Eckman's site in case it's inaccessible here:

http://mikeeckman.com/sovietcams/

Let's keep the legacy alive!!

Best regards,
Vlad

New statement posted by Aidas!

----
New actual information concerning website SovietCams.com!
Happy to announce you, that SovietCams.com will stay active for many years. Just after I have posted a message about the end of SovietCams.com, I have received a huge amount of support messages from you, many thanks to everyone! It was great to know, that my longevous endeavour are still on demand and respect. This obviously has corrected my decision to close the SovietCams.com. So, the website was transferred to another serious camera person ILYA STOLYAR from USA, who will be responsible for the maintenance and (hopefully…) further development of the SovietCams.com. And I will be more than happy to take a part in this process occasionally…

My personal gratitude to Aidas who did a tremendous job during all these years. No doubt that the knowledge of FSU cameras was greatly facilitated thanks to his site.

And of course, thanks to Vlad.

Amitiés. Jacques.
