Dear friends

We all know the Kristall with the "hammerhead paint". But in the book of Alexander Schulz you can find the desciption of a Kristall in chrome with the serial number 61021914. I've never seen such a camera offred on eBay or in any shop. Even Princelle don't say nothing about this variant. Do anybody knows other such cameras in chrome or it's a fake? What do you think?

Could it have had the same problem as this one where the paint has scuffed off and someone has just repainted it.

I did see one in one of the city camera shops that had been re enamelled in metallic red .. looked very nice.. two things .. way out of my price range .. and it wasn't working.

I got exactly the same Kristall a year or so ago. Looks pretty. I am somewhat partial to the Helios-44 and was happy to see it on the Kristall. I do not know if it is really rare, but safe to say it is uncommon.

I wonder if anybody else have such cameras? How rare they are?

I just receive Kristal with presumably original Helios 44 lens. The originality of the camera and lens can be proved by the everready lather case.

Hello dmzi

Thank you for your warning about the fakes. I will keep that in mind when studying this site.

Hello okynek

Thank you for your answer. It's may be a missunderstanding due to my bad knowledge of the english language ... It's very possible that it's light gray painted, I maybe better call this "chrome painted"? So "chrome" for me is just a color, not a term for a technical method (i.e. metalization).

Best wishes - Guido

Yes, mr. Guido, site is really interesting. ALEX has done the large work. Though, on my sight, there there are some obvious fakes.
All the best, dmzi

It hard to see on last picture, but I think that this Kristal is painted. I have early Kristall painted not by hammerhead emal, but by gray paint. My is 100% original with paperwork.
I do not believe that chrome plated Kristall existed, because pressure molded top from aluminum can not be electro plated as easy as stamped top from brass(?) as on Zenit 3M,
