Should I add a Movie Camera section in catalog? Anyone interested in motion cameras?
Thanks, Vlad. |

I like the movie cameras, but I only have two, ... a KGB Briefcase model and an EKRAN with the Delphin Underwater Housing. I am thinking of buying a good one here and there ;-)

I have few movie cameras. They are real fun, especially mechanical ones. I never use any of them though. |

I think it will be nice to have category for movie cameras. I'll put pictures of what I have there. And may be movies camera will attract more members to your Web Side? |

Oooh! Great idea! :) I love it! I don't have any in my collection though... maybe I'll get some for the photo shoot! :) I will add the category in next few days then.
Should I do just 1 category called "Movie Cameras" or you guys want it split up by the factories too?

Hi Vlad,
I have some very interesting Chinese cine items, cameras, lenses that no one has published before. I noted that a few members also have vintage Chinese cameras. It would be nice to have a section for Chinese cameras. These are also 'red' cameras.

Dear Zhang,
to tell you the truth I wanted to concentrate this site on Russian/Soviet cameras, but I did create a section for non-Russian clones and will do so for movie cameras, which are really Chinese or other countries' copies of Russian cameras. I am fine with having these in catalog, but I do not want to deviate too much and put in original Chinese cameras in this catalog, this will open to the door to all kinds of other things that do not really belong in "USSR" Photographic equipment catalog. I hope you don't take offense.
Thanks, Vlad |

On the second thought I may be ok with it, if you post some to show in the forums if you want and have discussions about them, but not add them to the catalog (if they are not the clones)... |

One must know that Russia was a major responsible for the camera industry development in China. They did furnish manufacturing equipment and sent training men to there. So did the Germans. The Chekoslovakian and Polish also did it in a lower scale. I believe that it will be a good additional section to our site, once this is a research mind orineted forum hoping to clear technical doubt and clean Mythical legends among people interested in such gear. Another important thing is to open the eyes of the Grand Public that: The so called "Iron Curtain" was greater In West Than in the East. That way my vote goes to the inclusion of Chinese cameras in a special section. About movie cameras for the amateurs: Since 1908 Russia produced professional movie cameras. The fist amateur movie camera came from LOMO and was a copy of the pre-war Czkoslovakian Admira 8.

Luiz,
honestly this is exactly what I don't want happening, I want to limit this site to be only about Russian/Soviet cameras and maybe clones of these made by other countries. I want to only have one group of people with common interest on this forum and site, that what makes it interesting, if we also will have Chinese camera collectors posting here then the other group will have to skip a lot of threads, and lose interest in participating in the forums.
Right now I would imagine collectors read EVERYTHING here and find EVERYTHING interesting, I do not want to really divide this site and branch off.. If anyone is a web savvy programmer here, I will be happy to provide the source code of this site free of charge (as long as it's not used in commercial purposes) in ASP3 and MS Access to reuse and set up a separate similar site for Chinese camera collectors.
I really have no interest in expanding to Chinese camera and maintaining that aspect of the site, since it would mean a lot more work for me, and this site takes up considerable amount of my time as it is, but at least I like what I do now since it coincides with my hobby and frankly Chinese or other cameras would not... being a software consultant I wouldn't mind saying though if anyone would want to actually fund a similar site for Chinese camera collectors I would gladly take on the work.

Vlad You are perfectly right in the sense of a high level of work you should have. And we must agree and respect this point. Your offer of providing the source code of this site free of charge is a very good thing. In the last days we received a large amount of information on Soviet goods - Of couse this will have a limit and perhaps a stagnation in the future- The Idea is to mantain this flame alive -While we are living- and enthusiasts- I believe this enthusiasm will persecute ourselves up to the end of our lives- Ok --- I believe that a creation of a new branch or pehaps new branches will fatally occur more days, more months, or mixed in the ones existing up to now. The original sense although must not be changed. The discussion and knowledge of the Soviet camera industry. This forum indeed is the best idea put to Soviet (or non Soviet) camera collectors up to date. Unhappily several people began sites on Soviet cameras and they were closed after a while by loss of interest. I Hope and Pray this should never occur with ourselves, that in this coming New Year, new member aid us more and more information , and our already members who are still in the 0 posts, contribute with new discoveries. Vlad, In my name and all members, of this community, we would say: God Bless you, Your life, your enthusiasm, your family and your site and your forum. On time -- How many megabytes has this forum today ? Kind Regards Luiz |

Maybe for the Forum, someone could just open a thread titled "Chinese Cameras" and all posts about Chinese cameras would have to be posted there, and somehow it could be kept at the top of the posts the way the two "stickies" threads are. This way they would not interfere with all of the other posts about Russian cameras.
I think many collectors of Russian cameras also get involved in the collecting of: Russian Movie Cameras; Chinese Cameras; Czechoslovakian Cameras, Hungarian Cameras, East German Cameras. So maybe in the WIKI Catalog there could just be a separate section in for "Cine - Movie Cameras" and another for "Non-Russian Communist Cameras" with sub-categories of "Chinese Cameras & Optics"; "Hungarian Cameras & Optics"; "East- German Cameras & Optics"; & "Czech Cameras & Optics".
Regards, Bill

what can you read on ussrphoto.com?
soviet and post-soviet photographic equipment!!!
this is the only forum over only soviet cameras! thats wonderful. this is the reason why i am a member. it give enough to ask and answer about much unknown (fn201). it give a site for clones, i find that`s enough. |

As I said guys, you're welcome to discuss anything in the forums, I am pretty relaxed about that, create a thread, I'll even make it sticky for you if you want, as long as the catalog stays strictly Russian.

Many cine cameras are beautiful and fascinating pieces of art IMO.Some Arriflex 35mm standard primes are converted for digital rangefinder cameras, and are very expensive now. |

Although i have collected many cine cameras from Germany, Japan, USA, etc., I have lost my interest on them time ago. In my opinion uncommon movie cameras from USSR have right to be in this site, not to say so about Hungarian or Polish ones ...
