Hello,
A picture made with my late 4,5/28mm Fed lens and a Fed S. The lens was cleaned, but the internal surface (glued) are not so clear, of course. And this non coated lens was not made for colour photos.

The photos look quite nice. Uncoated optics tend to haze, but that's their charm. Some people made color shots with the 28mm Fed and they turned out to be very well.
Mine is quite hazy too, but a lot sharper. Maybe yours is out of register or out of focus.

Thanks to you three. Really a beautiful and sharp photo, Milo! With which camera did you take it?

The Fed 1f that I use very often. It works quite well with the 100mm too. |

Thanks Jane, and welcome here! Our matter is rather to maintain our old stuff living, without modifying it when possible.
As for the lens, I have tried it with a modern A7, and it gives more or less the same "dreamy" results. Probably partly because an internal light defect. But frankly I love these tones, even if my lens is not sharp, of course!

Jacques, I fell in love with your two pictures, the subject matter is beautiful in itself, is that your home? So quaint! And the lens effect just fantastic. Now I am on the hunt for this lens to use on my Fujifilm X-Pro2! . Very nice!

Vlad. Most of them have separation in lenses but items without separation can be found too. Pls take care. |

Alas no, Vlad: the house is not mine! I was on holidays there, not far from the German border. Delighted to have given you the desire to get a Fed lens 4,5/28mm. But Alfa is right: these lenses are prone to internal problems. I had asked the seller several photos made with this lens before buying it. I have another one which is not usable.

Another photo, always with the same lens, but taken with the Sony A7. Nasty weather, today.

Note the light darkening of the corners, always noticeable though the diaph was closed at f18. The general tone is the same as the previous photos (with Fed S).

Hello everybody, I happened to see these interesting pictures couple of days ago, long after they were posted on the forum, so I retrieved from my hard disk test shots made with my own FED 28F4.5 on a Fuji XE-2. The FED wide-angle happened to be one of my very first "rare finds" when I started collecting Russian cameras years ago... (Since then I did find 2 working FED light meters !) After close examination the mist in my lens for sure comes from separation of the cemented elements (mediocre quality glue ?). Just for fun, I tried to "de-mist" the pictures using various photoshop resources to add contrast (but no sharpening), in part to try and appreciate what sort of detail level this lens was able to capture. My conclusion is that when new, this lens design must have produced pretty sharp pictures. See the light bulb in the enlarged detail of the "terrasse" pic. Pretty amazing remembering this was a 1930's design, with an incredible (at that time) F4.5 ! First my garden (as is jpeg from the XE-2) :
http://www.ussrphoto.com/UserContent/732018_Jardin_original.jpg The same with "defog" :

Bonsoir Jean-Pierre
Don't use letters like "é" (or any other special character) in file names to upload files with better success.
Best wishes - Guido

Thanks, Jean-Pierre. Your "defog" operation is astonishing, specially about the increase in contrast. I will try that too with my 28mm Fed.
