Someone posted this photo on Facebook, I've never seen anything like this, any ideas what is the purpose of this? Seems like a technical camera but for what?
Oh! So it is! I saw it mentioned but I wasn't sure, first Soviet submarine was made in 1936 and this is 1938 so timing somewhat works. thank you!

I wonder when and where they developed the film and what it was used for. Training? Reconnaissance?
I would assume they had to have some kind of dark room facility on the submarine itself.. or at least gear to develop it right there an then
Having a place to develop is easy.
I am not a submariner, don't know what you would use the pictures for. Perhaps for training, like that aerial machine gun camera.

On the postwar British and French submarines, the cameras were adapted from the production (Reid and Sigrist I; different Foca models). I wonder why a special camera on Soviet ones, whereas it could certainly have been easy to adapt some Feds...Amitiés. Jacques.
