quote: Consider this point: The Soviets never made "rapid" film and it was unavailable in the SU. So why did they make a camera that required it? Nathan Dayton
This actually reminds me, I had a friend over and he saw the Smena Rapid and went, hey that's the camera we used in Ukraine for a while.. well my question of course to him what - where did you get the film???? He said that they had one set of these rapid cassettes and they would just reload them with bulk 35mm film.. all you had to do is feed it through the slots on the cassettes in the dark room. So people WERE using these cameras..
Do not forgot : you can also , in this time, found (hunt ??) for ORWO , D.D.R. east german made rapid cassettes, No ? (same problem whith Cosmic 117 ,Pentacon 16 -"110 look"- cassettes made only by ORWO factory.) So , i agree, most of the time , photographers refilled rapid cassettes whith bulk film.
