A talkative Fed 1b

6 posts in this thread
Hello,

On checking some of my Fed 1b, I came across this one, with plenty of engravings inside... It's the # 25617, with the so called "lizard" vulcanite.

Inside, at the back of the speedbox:

Then, the date of checking at the regular place: II-23-VII. This date is scratched and seems to have been replaced by another one, 9-III-48, underneath.

At the same place, another inscription with the same name and something else that I don't understand.

And still inside, but behind the rewind button, a third date: probably 21/VIII.

This camera has lived several livings before entering my collection...

Amitiés. Jacques.

I read S. Petrov Kiev 1948 and S. Petrov Kolomiya (A city in Ukraine)
Jacques,

very interesting, I have never seen so many engravings on any case. You also have another date engraved on the rewind crank, so it seems to be more common. Maybe it was done by a special employee, or maybe it was intended for a while, who knows.
Looking for special markings will soon become a sport of "we take all our FEDs apart" ;-)

Ha, ha!Cool

About that one, the date "9/III/48" remembers the official Fed inscriptions, with a year that we find only after WW2. Possibly it was repaired at the factory at that date...

Jacques.
