Russian Sport SLR (Mirror) Camera Circa 1930's

Any clues from anyone on how to determine if a "Sport" SLR (1930's)is genuine or are there few opportunities to "fake" this unusual camera? What would be tyoical price as i wish to add to my collection

Hi Martin,

To be honest I've never seen a fake Sport, it's unique form factor would probably make it quite hard to fake in home-made conditions. Pricewise these cameras I've seen normally sell between $400 and $800, depending on condition although I've seen them listed higher, not sure if they do sell for that price.

I have seen one in good shape in Bievres.
I know the guy who sells it.
I tried to buy it for 550/600 euros but he wanted a little bit more.
I am not sure he still has the camera but I can ask him if you're interested.

Many thanks to both Vlad & Fred for this much valued advice. With this combined knowledge I have found and made my purchase and added this historic camera to my collection. The one that I purchased came in an original box and was in excellent condition at just under 600 Euro (770 USD) so seems a fair price. Also thank you Fred for your offer to contact the seller you saw, but as you can see there is no need now. I have always wanted to get to "Bievres but unfortunately business travel always seems to clash, but if of any interest I have found a shop in Budapest that often has some "gems" of cameras (at fair prices) mainly from former USSR and Satellite states (Some nice Pentacon samples). There is also a great shop in St Petersburg with a vast collection of Soviet era cameras (and many others) for sale, also at good prices,( I can provide detail if anyone is interested) but I have yet to find similar in Moscow (yes, I make many visits to both each year and have been visiting the former USSR and now Russia for over forty years so have seen many changes. In 1972 I would not have had the time to even queue to buy a camera there!!!!
