How do you develop film and make pictures? Ones I made test run on my Horizont, send film for developing and they just cut it, as it was nothing and then they was trying to make 6x4 pictures And then they told me that my camera is defective because they can not fit in my negatives Any way they was trying to charge money because "it was not they fault" Morons! So I do not know where to go with such films, and I thinking to start develop negatives myself, black&white only
I usually ask to 'develop only, do not cut'. Then I cut the film to fit in the negative folder of my scanner (I use a Nikon scanner, but they are all similar). I scan one frame (which covers over 1/2 of the 58mm long panoramic frame), then shift the film to scan the other half of the frame. Now I have two overlapping 24x36 frame scanned, and stitch them in Photoshop. It works OK, though somewhat cumbersome. I guess it is easier on a flat bad scanner, but I do not have one that can handle film.
Yep, I should do something like this too. The girl in the lab explained me that to develop film will cost more money and take more time then to make regular pictures, because machine does all automatically and to develop film they have to send it somewhere else. I guess this is one of the sidekicks of automatization. Any way I thinking to get developing tank and some chemicals and get back some 30 years ago and make negatives at home. It just where to get old Russian developing tank now? like one I have back then? Can’t find one on eBay. I believe they was originally sold for 1 rubel? And they tend to throw lid open if you overflow them and spoil all hard work. That good old times....
The brother in law of my brother in law owns a lab that does Horizon processing here in Illinois. He just scans them and gives me high res panoramics on CD. He does not cut the film either. If anyone is interested he can also do it via mail.. so let me know and I will post his coordinates.
And another.. both these shots were taken in Cancun, Mexico. First one is a view of marina from La Madeira restaurant, the second one is view on the street from ME Cancun hotel.
