Start S/N 5800366 with a Helios Nr.0003929

Hello Everyone,

It has been a long time I did not buy any Russian cameras. However, I bought an early Start about a week ago in one of the local shops. It looks identical to my other S/N 5800366 Start, but with a S/N 5900069. Smile
Now ,after comparing the two Helios-44 58/2 lenses, I found that the Nr.0003929 one is an uncommon version. I'd like to know if anyone of you has seen this version before? The difference is on the button levers. The 2nd picture is the rear view of lens S/N 0019806 that comes with my newly found Start.

Kind Regards,

Zhang

Thanks for the welcome.Smile
I don't know why you can't open the Xitec forum. It is normal from here in Beijing.

Thanks for the link
but this is not the conversation link where people exposed their
accquisitions and discuss about equipment.
the old link was:http://forum.xitek.com/printthread.php?threadid=479977 which now does not answer.

Thanks a lot

LP,

I think I know what your mean. They have changed the layout of the site, so that there are no sections specialised for used equipment talk, and you can only find the dicussions in sections for SLR, rangefinder cameras, lenses, etc.

I have collected vintage Russian and Chinese watches during the past 5-6 years, but now these seem hard to find ,and the prices are much higher.

Cheers,

Zhang

I don't remember I have ever seen an image of type a Start camera on the web before. But I have managed to find two -5800366 and 5900069.Big smile The 5800366 Start has a Helios 44 that is different from later ones.
I saw a type b on Aidas's great site with a s/n of 5800XXX, so I believe that these two types are overlapped in production.

Cheers,

Zhang
