Anything related to FED1'c' should go here.Smile

I have a question regarding the ominous "green vulcanite" said to be found in early Type'c' s/n up to about 62.000 - if I am correct...

Could you give me a comparison of "green" and normal black vulcanite side by side? Somehow I have never come across a camera of this type.

Regards,
Christian

It seems the vulcanite becomes grey/green, perhaps because of a strong utilisation: action of sweat, pressure on the body...
But it's also a question of texture. I will make photos soon.

Thank you!

It seems to me that the left camera simply has less of the black paint covering the vulcanite.

Is it true that this "green" vulcanite is limited to a certain serial range?

Christian

The grain is different too.
We can find this vulcanite only between 34000 and 61000, very roughly speaking.
We already had several discussions about the colour in the forum, Bill (?) showing that the colour had disappeared on the surface, but that black grains remained in the hollows.

Jacques.
