I don't know nothing about this camera made from wood but the same seller have an other one for sale, a FED 50:

But this one was produced from 1986 to 1990.

But the Helios 113 was a 5,6/65mm for the Fed 670, not a 1,8/40mm.
Two lenses with the same name...?
And what about the body?


The dummy kit was sold. I suppose the buyer knew exactly what he was doing!

Yes, I've seen the FED-670 prototype in Princelle book and one moment also remarked some analogies to this wooden FED-88. But maybe it's only a question of the year of design, because the grip on the FED-88 is a thing usually made in the 90th to now, the other wood prototype of the FED-50 offered by the same seller should be made in the early 80th, if it's a real design prototype. And this is why I'm not very convinced of the authenticity of both of the wood models from this seller. If one of this is a fake (FED-50 made later for example ...) the other could also be a fake (FED-88 as a fantasie camera).

Okay, the Helios-113 40mm/1.8 was seen and sold as a prototype, it has a Leica M bajonett mount. But the FED-670 (for 120 film rolls) was also equipped with a lens called Helios-113, but this was a 65mm/5.6 and has an other circle of view and an other mount, I think. This looks a kind of strange for me.

I'm shure FED had a lot more projects as we know today and they are not as good documented as from other factories (like KMZ i.e.). So I would not say the FED-88 wood prototype must be a fake, but we had to think of this because of the other wood prototype of the really existing FED-50 wood prototype.

BTW @Jacques: I don't know if the buyer exactly knew what he was doing, but I hope so. I saw so much strange things on eBay ... ;->

Well. Now, it's the known 1,8/40mm prototype for sale:

Th s/n 1, and perhaps the only ever made...
It could be perfect on a Leica CL/Minolta CLE with its M mount.
So, if all that is genuine, it would mean that this Fed 88 had a M mount...
