Hi all

I bought this camera from Westlicht 2 weeks ago, sold with a second lens 2/50mm Fed
Always same question.. Is it fake or not?
It seems the lens is not correct one. But what about its serial number??
Body has 1/1000s and I have removed the top just to look if i see different engraving inside (I have one in my collection Big smile)
A specialist could help me please??

Fred

FED KMZ are original pre war FEDs that came from Berdsk and were assembled and completed at KMZ (with Zeiss Leather.
FED Zorki have much more parts from KMZ
This câmera at least has the crate and knobs from FEDs
The oval hole near the rewind lever denotes last pre-war generations f FEDs (to include slow speeds.
The top cover seems to be authentic FED Zorki production
Could it be a Kotleta? or a refurbish of a câmera.
The shoe mounting ring is somewhat out of common
Most parts came from FED

Once more, it is very difficult to be affirmative.
This Fed-Zorki is perhaps too much on the Fed side. For me, it's the first time I see a Fed-Zorki with a Fed counter (pins at 15/20 and 0/35), for example. The cover looks correct, as said by Luiz.

Concerning the lens, it is a normal postwar one, usually delivered with the last 1f (coated and new scale). The other lens in the kit is a Fed 2/50mm one. By what we know, the first Fed-Zorki were delivered with re-badged Fed lenses; it's not the case here.

All in all, I rather think of a remount from parts. I have several Fed-Zorkis, including earlier ones. And they all have specific KMZ features concerning the lens, the buttons, the frame counter... For what I know!

You have the taste for risk, Fred! Big smile

Amitiés. Jacques.

Thank you for your explanations!!!
As you say, Jacques, I bought it with idea it could be fake...
If it is, it's a nice one with 1/1000s and 2 lenses of wich one Fed 2/50 (n°25160)

Fred has sent me some other information about that camera.
The shutter box is white (Under the paint) end there is no hole on the press film. That denotes a late Fed 1d or a 1e: correct for a Fed-Zorki.

Besides, this camera has a correct (and specific) speed dial for Fed-Zorkis. An item which cannot be found separately.
No conclusion, of course, but perhaps a camera illegaly mounted at KMZ's... whatever the risks be in those years!

Amitiés. Jacques.

Yes, but number of the camera is 3130. All parts from FED NKVD should have been used before the camera was produced.
Jacques, as you wrote no conclusion, of course, perhaps a camera illegaly mounted at KMZ's.
But I would rather say Kotleta. Of course I may be wrong.
It's a pitty we cannot see shutter speed dial. Is it like in late FED-Zorki or like in FED S ?
