Zenit KM - A Quick Death

I "won" a Zenit KM camera on eBay a few months back. As I recall I paid $50 for it. Not bad.

Outside of it being a bit loud and having quite a bit of vibration when firing, it produced nice photographs.

Well, just last night as I was checking it out I rubbed my thumb over the device on the bottom of the cameras back which I think helps guide the film in a straight path, when suddenly it just fell apart in pieces. Many pieces.

Hard to think that such a little touch could cause such damage.

I guess I stummbled across one of its problematic issues. Has anyone else had the same problem?

Hmm.. Steve I was just trying to replicate it, but mine is KM-Plus, I've rubbed it and pulled and pressed it, and it hung in there Big smile.. I did it pretty hard too... the film pressure plate almost fell off but other than that that part was pretty solid.. maybe you were missing a screw or a spring in there... or maybe they improved it on KM-Plus
