Brass Fed copies?

I just went to the KEH website and surfed to Leica screwmount kits and they have a bunch of Leica copies, some are in brass. What I saw was a bit corroded. Is this a normal procedure to brass plate them? I guess anything is possible my baby shoes were bronzed too. he he It just seems a waste to use brass which will corrode. Don
