Fed Sport

Hello,
Here is the Fed Sport I have just received.
It seems more convincing than those we discussed about in other topics, even if it's always a fake: it has the 1/1000th and a 2/50mm Fed lens. It was made from a prewar 1d type S.

The rapid winder is made by a trigger, not a sort of lever, like Leica, Canon and Drug.

Just a word more about this camera: the seller told he had bought it in Italy in 1984. So, it would have been made before.
It would be interesting to know how many were made and by whom. Of course impossible.

Hmmmm, what is original, what is not original ?

The mechanism and the optics are original, of course, and work perfectly.
But I don't know where the winder comes from. Not made by Fed: it would be known. So, by whom?

The original FED from Karkov are overhauled By KMZ where they reengraved (or made) a new cвmera top and put a complete new film advance system. Observe they didn't forget to reverse the thread of the film spool holder due the new coupling of film advence force.
These cвmeras came from a period pre-FED/KMZ as an exercice towards future production. Observe the TOMB!

After all why not... I had noted the "tomb", but I just thought it was the job of a faker.
Your supposition makes sense, of course. That rapid winder is a delicate work and cannot be done on the corner of a table... But if we could have proofs...
And what about the hammer and sickle, which are rather Arsenal's symbols?

I heard a rumor that these were made in Poland in 1990s by a very skilled fantasy camera artist, possibly the same one who had made the Stemar copy FED stereo lenses.

I am not sure about the 1980s information in this thread earlier

Yes Vlad; the Polish track was what I had in head too.
So maybe Alfa could investigate?
Perhaps the question remains open about the complexity of this winder which cannot be made as easily as a Stemar copy...

Hmmmm, there is nothing to investigate. I know the guys. They are much older than me.
I doubt they would want to answer my questions regarding this.
I can confirm some rare Leica items were made by them.

I can understand for some easy works: re-engraving or even Leica like Stemars.
But for a rapid winder? Unless some original parts, coming from elsewhere, were used? Certainly, it needs professional tools and plans.

Jacques, it was not done on the corner of a table. They were professionals. They were able to "produce" Leica 250 from regular Leica. It was not possible to recognize if it is fake or not. It was possible because before II WW capitalistic Poland had technical cultur as high as in Germany. So "our friends" had specialsts from whom they could learn.

But of course I cannot confirm they did FED-Stemar or FED Sport. I only can say - "They were able".
